Welcome to midis2jam2! This project is a remaster of MIDIJam, a music animation software package. It plays MIDI files: A special type of music file that encodes how a song is played. It animates its performance with a virtual band.

This documentation will help you get started with midis2jam2, and provide reference information for all its features.

This documentation is for version 2.0.0.

midis2jam2 is now available on Android! When using this documentation, make sure to click the "Desktop" or "Android" tab to see platform-specific instructions.

Getting started

This guide will help you get started with midis2jam2.

Installation

Download the latest version of midis2jam2 at midis2jam2.xyz. Select the version for your computer's operating system and download the file. Once downloaded, run the file to install the app. The installer guides you through the installation process. Once installed, run the app from your computer's application menu.

Download midis2jam2 from the Google Play Store. Once installed, run the app from your device's application menu.

Playing your first song

When midis2jam2 opens, you will see the home screen. From here, you can open a MIDI file to play.

Next, you need a MIDI file. If you don't have one, you can find one on the internet. There are many websites that offer free MIDI files, such as MIDIWorld and FreeMidi.

Click the MIDI file text field. A file picker will appear. Select your MIDI file.

Then, click the Play button.

The performance screen opens and the MIDI file starts playing. 🎉
