Synthesizer

You can configure the built-in software synthesizer to customize how MIDI files are played.

Reverb and chorus

You can enable reverb and chorus effects to enhance the sound of the synthesizer.

• Reverb simulates the effect of sound reflecting off surfaces in a room, creating a sense of space.
• Chorus adds slight variations to the pitch and timing of the notes, creating a richer, fuller sound.

Enable or disable these effects in the settings tab, under Playback.

When an effect is enabled, the MIDI file and the soundbank decide how much of it to use. When an effect is disabled, the app turns it off on every channel before the song starts.

Warning

Disabling an effect works by sending a control change event to the synthesizer. If the MIDI file also sends control change events for these effects, the file may turn the effect back on partway through the song.
