Background

The background feature allows you to set a background image or color for the performance.

Default

The default background is a dark checkerboard pattern, which provides a neutral backdrop for the performance. It has no configuration options.

Background image

Desktop only

Image backgrounds use cubemaps. A cubemap is a set of six images that map to each face of a cube. The app displays the images on the inside of the cube, creating a 3D environment around the performance.

You can use any image as a cubemap, but it works best with images that are designed for this purpose, such as panoramic images or skyboxes.

You can find free cubemaps online, or create your own using a 3D modeling software.

Place images for use in the ~/.midis2jam2/backgrounds directory. Open this folder by clicking the Open textures folder button when in the background image settings. Then, for each direction, select an image file from this folder.

Important

Images for use in a cubemap must be square, all have the same resolution and format, and all must either be RGB or RGBA.

Images can be in JPEG, PNG, BMP, or GIF format.

Background color

You can set a solid color as the background for the performance. You can choose any color using the color picker.
