MIDI device

If you have a MIDI device connected to your computer, you can use it to play the notes in the MIDI file. This can be useful if you want to use a different sound than the one provided by the app.

Send specification reset message

Desktop only

Enable this option to send a MIDI specification reset message to your device when you start playing a MIDI file. This can help ensure that your device is in a known state before playback begins.

In the settings tab, under Playback, select a MIDI specification from the dropdown menu. The app will send the corresponding reset message to your device when you start playback.

The specification you choose also tells the app how to read the file's instrument changes, so it shows the right instruments for Roland GS and Yamaha XG files. If the MIDI file sends its own reset message, the app follows the file's specification from that point on.
