Soundbanks
Desktop only
You can use custom soundbanks with Gervill, the built-in software synthesizer.
What is a soundbank?
A soundbank is a file that contains a collection of instrument sounds. These sounds are used by the synthesizer to play the notes in a MIDI file. The app comes with a default soundbank, but you can replace it with a custom one.
Configuring soundbanks
In the settings tab, click the Soundbanks option.
To add a soundbank, click the Add soundbank button and select a .sf2 or .dls file from your computer,
or drag and drop the file onto the soundbanks list.
To remove a soundbank, click the button next to the soundbank you want to remove.
You can select which soundbank to use on the home tab.
Bug
The app may sometimes incorrectly use the wrong sounds from the soundbank. This is due to a bug in the Java Sound API, which the app uses to play MIDI files. If you encounter this issue, use a different soundbank or MIDI device.
